Our group, facilitated by our senior partner, Gayle O’Connor, discusses a new topic with various speakers and expert guests each month. All nonprofit organizations, regardless of size are welcome. There is no commitment and no cost to participate.

OSHA Regulations and Risk Management

This interactive workshop is for anyone involved with health and safety responsibility or who wants to learn more. Conducting Human Resource and Safety Audits

June 1st and June 3rd, 2022, 9am to 12pm, via Zoom

Led by our certified HR professional, Dr, Mark Vrooman in partnership with the UNH Professional Development and Training. This workshop will discuss the top employer violations with the Department of Labor and OSHA, both at the federal and state levels, with detailed examples of what employers tend to do wrong. Then, we’ll discuss the solutions to ensuring these violations do not occur the first time or recur. We’ll discuss staffing, HR planning, recruiting and selecting employ­ees, employee orientation and training, performance management, com­pensation practices, job design and analysis, employee benefits, employee/ management relations, and cultural diversity in the workplace. Employee Retention: Keeping the Best

July 13th and 15th, 2022, 10am to 12pm, via Zoom

Led by our HR and Organizational professional, Irene Dickinson, in partnership with the UNH Professional Development and Training.

In this interactive workshop we will discuss strategies for employee retention and the importance of having a plan and taking action. An overview of avoidable turnover is explored: Why do employees quit? When are employees most vulnerable? What can supervisors do to improve retention? Discussion, exercises, leadership and motivation assessments will be used to enhance the learning process. Tuition through UNH is $189.

Behavioral Interviewing

July 20th and July 22nd, 2022, 9am to 12pm, via Zoom

Led by our certified HR professional, Dr, Mark Vrooman, in partnership with the UNH Professional Development and Training. This workshop focuses on a foundational overview of employment laws related to hiring, including off-limit questions, then moves into understanding the best and least desirable workers’ characteristics and paying attention to red flags. In the second part of the workshop, the focus will be alignment with organizational values, hiring for attitude, great questions, and hands-on interviewing and role-playing. Basic Employment Law

August 17, 2022, 9am to 3:30pm, Portsmouth Campus

Led by our certified HR and Safety professional, Amy Cann, in partnership with the UNH Professional Development and Training. Supervisors and managers must understand the basics of employment laws and regulations when dealing with employees, but few have received training in these areas. This workshop will look at what you need to know to avoid legal and practical issues and to meet your obligations to your employer.
